Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) has an exciting opportunity for a Global Smart City Initiative Leader. This position will report to the Global HBS President, and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to develop and grow and scale the Global Smart City solutions business.

Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) is a $2.5B strategic business unit within Home and Building Technologies (HBT). HBS installs and maintains the systems to help keep buildings and facilities safe, secure, comfortable and cost-efficient, and is a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions worldwide. HBS specializes in the installation and service of critical and connected building systems, including Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Automation, Fire, Security and Energy Management.

As the Global Smart City Initiative Leader for HBS, you will be challenged to use business acquisition judgment and leadership skills to lead a sales team in achieving the financial / non-financial annual goals. This requires implementation of customer acquisition sales strategies, tactics and processes to solve our customer’s most critical business problems. The value proposition includes the data integration platform that provides physical and application layer integration for city management sub systems. You will utilize your experience in the Software, Building Services, Software as a Service (SaaS), and solutions industry to coach and mentor a sales force of regionally embedded Business Consultants that provide high quality, innovative software based services and solutions to our customers.

This position interfaces with the Global Marketing & Strategy team for HBS/HBT, Honeywell Technology Organization and the Honeywell Building Solutions sales teams on financials, processes, operational initiatives and core install and service leads, to ensure Smart Cities growth objectives are achieved.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business opportunities with the Smart Cities portfolio through understanding of market trends, key players in the market, and next generation technologies in assigned markets.
  • Ensure VOC is captured adequately to allow agile development of CCS (Command & Control suite) to meet Smart City platform and needs.
  • Maximize Honeywell pull through of product by leveraging offerings across HBT.
  • Evaluate and expand into adjacencies.
  • Partner with Software start-ups to develop Analytics.
  • Responsible for achieving Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets (Orders, Rev/GM and Profit) while monitoring and optimizing pricing policies.
  • Determine pricing model based on service offering and market opportunities.
  • Provide profitable and strategic sales growth for Smart Cities, drive customer acquisition, establish market demand and grow business with customers.
  • Monitor strengths and weaknesses of the Smart Cities value proposition and making required adjustments based on market intelligence working closely with the Marketing, Technology and Regional Sales teams.
  • Manage sales activity by means of a Sales Management Operating System to include forecasting calls, opportunity reviews, Plan to Make Plan (PtmP) development and monitoring.
  • Leverage strength of HBT/HBS by utilizing available resources and 3rd party suppliers and software eco-system partners, while aligning corporate sales initiatives to HBS strategies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 12 years of Software as Service (SaaS), Enterprise Cloud, Mobility, IT, Apps or related B2B industry experience in the commercial and institutional buildings markets.
  • 5 years Software Sales Leadership experience selling to directly to end users.
  • Successful experience leading a geographically dispersed sales team.
  • MBA or other applicable Technical post graduate degree.
  • Sales experience in B2B/Enterprise & large Public sector selling, Software Services/ Commercial buildings industry.
  • Proven experience building and growing a sales organization.
  • Local & Global market knowledge.
  • Consultative selling experience.
  • Solid understanding of P&L and ability to build business case for sales growth investments.
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategies for sales growth.
  • Creative, decisive, high energy and ability to energize others.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to understand the customer needs, negotiate complex sales and total value offerings to customers.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to define vision for the organization, rally the team around the vision, set high expectations and manages to expectations.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills with the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and influence other members of leadership team without formal authority.
