We work closely with end users alike through innovative product design, quality manufacturing, solid marketing, training and support to our customers.

We are looking for a Footwear engineer to product development project.

The incumbent will partner with the Product Managers, ISC, LOB and quality to support the delivery of the new product revenue and profitability targets.

This position will report to the R&D Footwear Leader and it will be based in BRNO.

I. * *Principal Responsibilities

· To develop new concepts, features and accessories for safety shoes from idea generation to industrialization.

· To develop safety shoes from design to industrialization being responsible for quality, timing and budgets.

· To be a technical expert and technical interface for internal and external development related contacts and actions.

· To perform gate keeping in order to propose new materials, processes, product concepts.

· To optimize existing products with the objectives of improving material rationalization,

· To carry out regular technical and market watch in order to propose new product sketches & concepts.

II. * *Supervisory Responsibilities

  1. Design & Development

ü Design

ð Analyze and valid Marketing requests, design cut & sewn products that meet those requests

ð Design sketches and concept

ð Creating/visualizing an idea and producing a design by using computer-aided design (CAD)

ð Propose Brand marking elements

ð Propose newconcepts based on technical watch.

ü Development

ð In charge to the choice of fabrics and accessories while considering the optimum ratio Fit/Price, in collaboration with pattern maker, suppliers, project leader and sourcing department,

ð Provide necessary information for price calculations, make preliminary costing,

ð Plan and make prototypes in collaboration with the pattern maker (or by himself)

ð Make and update the technical files till the first production run. The technical files is composed of: patterns, nomenclature, operating process, table of measures, validated sample, raw materials information, quality control, and price calculation.

  1. Industrialization

ð Launch pre-series (planning, timing, material supply..) and participate in manufacturing plants to industrial trials,

ð Validate conformity of pre-series and give « OK to run »,

  1. Footwear expertise

ð Shoes design and Pattern making (including sizing)

ð Experienced in fabrics, textile and accessories selection related to footwear,

ð Create a documentation system allowing to store all information related to products and prototypes,

ð Assist sourcing/pattern making to select and validate suppliers,

ð Carry out tests to validate safety footwear characteristics.

  1. Product and process optimization

ð Support product standard operation sheet for manufacture (sewing step...)

ð to Propose relevant optimizations of existing products either to improve cost or to increase performances,

ð Analyze existing product ranges and propose product or material rationalizations to consolidate volumes simplify logistics and decrease costs.

  1. Technical and Market watch

ð Look for new materials and evaluate their performances

ð Follow Safety Footwear market and insure regular contact with suppliers,

ð Identify market trends

ð keeping up to date with emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colors and shapes

ð Bachelor in Textile / Footwear Design (equivalent to A level + 2/3 years of specialized education)

ð 1 to 3 years of experience in developing footwear

ð Footwear product design and/or Footwear Manufacturing experience

ð PU Injected Footwear experience

ð Footwear design

ð Footwear technology skills / knowledges

ð Textile materials / leather and their uses in Footwear

ð IT : CAD Design system – MindCad, Roman CAD, Solidworks, Design (Adobe Photoshop, illustratror, Corel Draw, C-Design…)…and of course Office Pack

ð Flexible materials (fabrics, leather and plastic film)

ð Shoes making process (knitting, PU/TU injection, cemented, rubber...)

ð Functional fabrics

ð Team spirit

ð Creativity, innovation and flair

ð English as a working language
