Responsibilities: Monitor and operate up to kilo-scale chemical processes under the direction of chemist or chemical engineer. Work includes support for lab experiments, calculations, data analysis, maintaining records, and the accurate reporting of data. Run analytical samples including GC and wet chemistry. Perform troubleshooting on kilo-lab scale equipment.

Technical skills: Requires education and/or experience in chemistry and chemical processes related to: catalytic reactions, distillations, neutralizations, and handling highly hazardous materials. Must have good mechanical aptitude in order to understand and troubleshoot the various equipment utilized in the processes listed above. Must demonstrate ability to learn and use analytical equipment needed in support of processes including Gas-chromatograph and other laboratory instruments. Computer experience with Windows operating system, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and computerized process control software is preferred.

Physical requirements: Able to move up to 600 pound drums and 250 pound gas cylinders utilizing appropriate handling equipment, lift and carry up to 50 pound pails, climb ladders and scaffolding, wear all PPE and respiratory equipment, and able to work rotating 8 hour shifts.

50 Monitor/operate chemical processes & plant utilities under direction of chemist or chemical engineer

20 Start-up and troubleshooting of lab/pilot scale equipment

10 Handling/transporting of hazardous materials using proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

10 Run analytical samples including GC and wet chemistry

10 Mechanical aptitude at using compression/pipe fittings to assemble small-scale tubing assemblies

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum chemical technology degree (2 or 4 years) and/or Minimum of 5-10 years of chemical plant operating/technician experience
