As the Heat Exchanger Design Engineer, you'll join a team leveraging expertise across Honeywell UOP's diverse portfolio of process technologies spanning refining, petrochemicals, gas, and renewables. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team alongside process, equipment, service, project management, customers, contractors, and vendors, you'll contribute to project execution. Your responsibilities include generating designs, producing specifications, evaluating revamps, troubleshooting operations, and effectively communicating results. Drawing upon your heat exchanger proficiency, you'll provide UOP and its clients with insights into design, specification, operation, and capabilities. Additionally, you'll drive product improvement through the development of necessary designs, thereby playing a vital role in securing both present and future business by consistently meeting or surpassing Voice of Customer requirements.

LOCATION:

The preferred primary location for this role is Des Plaines, IL. However, candidates willing to work in Houston, TX will also be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide heat exchanger equipment selection, design, and modeling expertise

• Create specifications, perform design optimizations, troubleshoot field operations, and present technical solutions.

• Contribute to internal design standards, calculation tools, and documentation to improve project execution efficiency

• Learn from industry leading experts and contribute to process and equipment advancements to enhance UOP’s world-leading process technology.

• Ability to travel up to 10% world-wide, typically of short duration (generally between a few days and two weeks).

YOU MUST HAVE:

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

•2+ years’ experience within industry

WE VALUE:

•Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

•Significant experience in the design and selection of heat exchangers including experience with HTRI or similar exchanger design software

•Strong desire to learn new technologies and further develop technical skills and expertise

•Experience in the design of equipment for refinery and petrochemical plants

•Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. API, ASME, TEMA)

•Demonstrated ability to effectively apply technical expertise to a range of engineering and field support activities

•Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively to manage priorities and deliver on multiple projects

•The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

•Experience working with diverse, global teams

•Strong verbal and written communication skills
