Complete on-the-job and classroom training as part of an 8,000 hour formal apprentice program in screw machining. The program will consist of rotating through the CNC automatic spindle area, multi-spindle area, Swiss style area and mills. The trainee will be required to complete and pass proficiency tests in each area of on-the-job training. Formal classroom training is also part of the apprentice program that takes place at Rock Valley College in partnership with the Rock River Valley Tooling and Machining Association. Classes are typically in the evening with some taking place on Saturday mornings, classes include:
• Section 1: Classes to be completed within first year.
• APT190 - Mathematics for Technology
• APT194 - Blueprint interpretation/GDT
• Section 2: Classes to be completed within the second year.
• APT-289 - Metal Cutting Applications
• MET-106 - Metrology
• MET-105 - Materials and Processes
• Section 3: Classes to be completed within the third year.
• MET-111 - CNC Machine Setup/Operations/Programming
• MET-226 - CNC/CAM Operations I
• Section 4: Classes to be completed within the fourth year.
• MET-108 - Introduction to AutoCAD
• WLD-100 - Introduction to Welding (3)
• MET-133 - Graphics/SolidWorks CAD I
Training may occur on any shift subject to need and trainer availability. Trainee will be given 1 month notice prior to shift transfer. Final shift placement will be 2nd or 3rd shift. The selection process will review experience, education and a mechanical aptitude assessment followed by an interview panel.
You Must Have:
Basic reading and writing, math skills are essential, organization, communication, team oriented, problem solving and flexibility.
Experience in set up positions & inspection certification preferred
Computers, Statistical Process Control (Charting & gathering data), Gauges, Measuring devices, Chemicals & materials, Read a route sheet, Read Blueprints, Decision Making, Work scheduling, Troubleshooting, Quality - within defined tolerances/parameters
