Honeywell Chemical-Material Handler in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work any shift, including 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd shift.

  • Responsible for the receipt, maintenance of records and inventorying of controlled wastes Operates computer to maintain records dealing with excess property, precious metals, hazardous wastes, and classified scrap. responsible for emergency chemical spill cleanup

  • Issues supplies and containers to operating departments.

  • ls responsible for pumping controlled waste to and from tanks, sumps, and pits.

  • Works from written and oral instructions

  • Responsible for lube & coolant services

  • Performs lube & coolant services on machines throughout the plant.

  • Responds to emergency spills in the plant.

  • Create bar-codes for waste drums.

  • Performs over-packs for waste that is generated in departments.

  • Tears down product and assemblies that is designated for destruction with a wide variety of equipment (Disintegrator, Shredder, Hammer mill, hand tools)

  • Does repacking of waste and prepares it for shipment.

  • Loads trucks for shipments.

  • Operates machine to make turnings into pucks.

  • Changes barrels out on dust collectors

  • Pumps out coolant tank into tanker truck.

  • Works with trash compactor

  • Works with waste drivers on pick-ups of roll-offs getting in/out weights.

  • Performs weekly inspections on waste containers.

  • May perform other duties as required.

  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to “stop” work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

  • Responsible for complying with applicable provisions of Article 19. Environment, Safety, Health and Good Housekeeping of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

You Must Have

  • US citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy “Q” level security clearance.

  • High school diploma or GED.

We Value

  • Understanding of federal regulations for disposition of excess government property and waste

  • Perform chemical spill clean-ups and decontamination of equipment and areas using respirator equipment.

  • Transporting, carrying, lifting, and manipulating property, containers and tools of moderate size and weight to process property and waste for disposal

  • Identifying and interpreting chemical labels, MSDSs and documentation to respond to emergency chemical spills and daily job tasks.

  • Experience with personal computers to obtain work instructions and maintain records.

  • Good communication skills - verbal and written.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft applications

  • Experience with Maximo

  • Must be able to work in team atmosphere.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

  • Experience with chemical compatibilities and characteristics, spill clean-up and decontamination procedures
