Honeywell Sr CAD Designer in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

The Sr CAD Designer role is designed for developing concepts and design layouts of complex mechanical or electrical equipment parts and/or products while also assembling and creating computer aided engineering definitions. Sr CAD Designers are also responsible for applying technology to performing project management activities and offering innovative solutions to significant CAD, manufacturing, and/or process problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides project leadership and expertise in areas of engineering definition requirements, supporting procedures and Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Engineering Tools.

  • Interacts with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design development, production, and acceptance issues.

  • Consults with engineering, inspection, and manufacturing personnel to verify reliability of design.

  • Coordinates activities and provides training/mentoring to lower designer classifications.

  • Recommends and implements process improvements to increase technical productivity and effectiveness within the organization.

  • Conducts assigned research or development and works on complex projects/tasks.

  • Serves as a technical advisor to other designers and may direct their work or lead projects.

  • Work is typically a critical part of a team effort and requires independence in structuring and accomplishing own work.

You Must Have

  • 5+ years of experience in design drafting or equivalent experience using CAD computer systems

  • Must have a High School Diploma

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business

  • United States Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Bachelors of Science Technology degree in appropriate field or equivalent training and experience.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of computer-aided design tools, advanced design skills, thorough knowledge of procedures and products acquired through technical training.

  • Evaluates and improves methods/ processes and recognize alternative possibilities for projects and recommend best choice(s).

  • Demonstrates the ability to implement new technology and ideas at the project level and implement best design.

  • Demonstrates ability to consistently and successfully complete projects on time, even as adverse situations arise.

  • Ability to use standard mathematical models, as applicable, to predict results.

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently on tasks and projects.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
