Honeywell Lead Wireless/RF Engineer in Olathe, Kansas

Exciting Opportunity within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization!

This position is for the Lead Wireless/RF Engineer within the NAVRadios, GNSS and Control Sensors group within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance COE. This position will be in Olathe Kansas as part of a larger onsite support team to include design, electronic test, and advanced manufacturing engineering. This position will fill a design engineering role supporting the Olathe factory on RF design improvements and the design team in Deer Valley Arizona with new RF designs for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Integrated Multimode Radio (IMMR), Radar Altimeter and VHF radio/data link.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead RF design engineer supporting factory on RF RCCA to improved factory first pass yields.

  • Provide RF design support on the development of new products working with the design team in Deer Valley Arizona.

  • Guide the development process and create artifacts that meet FAA/EASA requirements.

  • Support Honeywell Leadership and Honeywell customer meetings.

US PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry developing commercial avionics equipment with RF design specialty

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident due to export control restrictions

WE VALUE

  • Experience and knowledge of radar altimeters, Instrument Landing Systems, VHF Radios, GNSS and/or related technologies.

  • Strong theoretical knowledge of RF concepts and a proven track record of implementing these concepts into practical RF designs for frequency ranges of 10 MHz to 4.3 GHz.

  • Experience and skill in impedance matching, transmission line theory, RFI/EMI, and experience with a wide variety of RF substrates.

  • Experience with Mentor Designer and Expedition for printed wiring board layout of RF circuits.

  • Proficiency in RF modeling tools such as AWR/Cadence - Microwave Office and/or ADS at both the system level and detailed circuit level.

  • Knowledge of 2.5D and/or 3D electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS.

  • Experience with Matlab, LTSpice/Pspice and Keysight ADS

  • Experience with hands-on laboratory work, with the ability to create and use RF test setups that include all types of RF test equipment (Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Noise Figure Meters, Signal Generators and Power Meters) to test and prove prototype designs.

  • The ability to thoroughly document designs and procedures is also required using standard Microsoft Office tools.

  • Knowledge of FCC and RTCA DO-160 standards is strongly desired.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability including ability to lead, develop and influence technical teams. Flexible and open leadership style with the ability to adapt to change and to drive project performance in the face of change.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to directly engage and influence others in major change initiatives — including process, productivity, and globalization.

  • Action oriented, high energy, able to seize opportunities when they arise.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity. Able to effectively cope with change. Ability to make decisions and act in the face of limited data availability and achieve success despite ambiguity. Ability to manage risk and uncertainty.

  • Have good conflict management skills and the ability to turn conflicts into opportunities for improvement and to strive for win-win resolutions.

  • Advanced degree preferred.
