The Aero & Mechanical Sciences group within the Engine System and Component Analysis department is seeking an engineer who will be a key contributor to developing tools and methods for Fan and Compressor Design Systems (FCDS). The position provides the individual with an opportunity to interface with engineering analysts within the engines and APU product lines, component design teams, testing, and experts in the information technology groups. Diverse technical and planning skills are needed to create, maintain, and implement tools, methods, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Lead software tool development, maintenance, and enhancement initiatives, with a focus on the toolchain used to design gas turbine engine fans and compressors. The position includes hands on programming, software system architecture definition and software project management.

• Deploy process enhancements, identify opportunities for cost-effective tool consolidation and/or creation of new tools.

• Coordinate with global teams to manage productivity tool development projects and ensure all projects meet cost, schedule and quality objectives

• Work closely with our global teams to support engine development programs

• Work closely with our internal customers to support analysis and data reduction activities.

• Develop documentation & training materials.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics

• 5 + years of relevant experience in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering analysis or the development of engineering tools and methods.

• 3 + years of relevant experience in software engineering including system architecture.

• Experience in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, MATLAB.

• Due to export control requirements, candidate must be US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (green card) of the United States.

• Demonstrated ability in scientific programming and numerical methods.

• Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices

• Ability to lead and manage software development initiatives across a diverse and global cross-functional team

• Demonstrated expertise in Python, C++ and MATLAB.

• Master’s degree in a technical field

• Experience with gas turbine engines

• Understanding of structural mechanics and finite element analysis.

• Understanding of aerodynamics and computations fluid dynamics.

• Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of customers

• Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness

• Experience owning and continuously improving processes to reduce cycle time, improve accuracy, and reduce costs

• Effective communication skills
