The T55 Project Engineering team has an opening for a Principal Project Engineer to lead a new engine development test program. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the interest, aptitude, and experience associated with the design, development, test and support of gas turbine engines for rotary-wing applications.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the engine test efforts through all aspects of the Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) process, on schedule, on budget and in compliance with all technical requirements.

· Act as a mentor and technical leader for the organization.

· Broad indirect span of control of approximately 15 full time equivalent engineers.

· Cost account manager for assigned scope, including Earned Value Management System reporting. Annual budgetary responsibility approximately $6M.

· Expected to serve as the team leader for the test team

o Lead a diverse cross functional team to accomplish the scope

o Escalate effectively with leadership and cross-functionally across the organization

o Strong commitment to customer satisfaction

o Bias toward creative thinking and innovation in product test and approach to everyday work

o Implement design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies

o Promote and build strong team working relationships

o Manage within very difficult resource constraints

o Identify gaps and risks on behalf of the team

o Balances workload of the team members

o Monitor work of team members to recognize when they are “stuck” or “off track”

· Leverages technical experts to review the technical work of the team

· Leads test planning and coordination with the engineering laboratory

· Communicate test program status with internal and external customers

· Guide and develop early career engineers

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 10+ years’ engineering experience in design, development, and/or test of complex mechanical system.

    WE VALUE

  • Prior experience leading complex mechanical systems design and development activities.

  • Testing of moderately complex systems.

  • Excellent oral and written communications.

  • Program/Project Management experience.

  • Strong cost account management skills.

  • Demonstrates a bias for action and ability to work independently.

  • Prioritizes time and resources effectively.

  • Ability to build constructive working relationships with internal customers and suppliers

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to accomplish technical objectives under strict schedule constraints.

  • Demonstrated mentoring and technical leadership of an engineering organization.
