Honeywell Sr Advanced Eng Support Specialist in Torrance, California

The successful candidate in Sr Engineering support specialist role performs a full range of complex engineering support assignments requiring significant knowledge of Development and Qualification testing, Test Planning, Design test equipment, troubleshooting test equipment and project management processes, supporting electrical design and testing for turbomachinery and vapor cycle systems products at Torrance Aerospace facility. The candidate will support Electrical test equipment design and maintenance for a wide variety of components and systems test programs/projects. Sr Engineering support specialist work with Lead Engineers and a wide variety of stakeholders in all aspects of test equipment design support efforts, facility integration, configuration, test planning and test execution. The person, under moderate supervision, will leverage their knowledge of specification of electrical components and experience designing test solutions with single phase and 3-phase motor controls, PLCs, transducers, engineering processes, discipline and tools to plan and execute tasks and projects related to the development and certification of Honeywell turbomachinery product line. The candidate will develop electrical design using Auto CAD software and demonstrates high levels of expertise.

The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $156,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Responsibilities

  • This position requires the ability to work independently at a high level on complex engineering support tasks in alignment with business strategies/tactics:

  • Identifies and pursues improvement opportunities, develops revised processes, and performs updates and/or maintenance to existing Test equipment and /or Test facilities

  • Create new test equipment. Adhere to AS9100/Honeywell Aerospace policy and standards. Facilitate reviews with Project Lead, Chief engineers, internal customers such as NPI system engineers/Program managers, Production Control, Quality Engineering, Inspection, Product Engineering and Operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to work instructions.

  • Interpret design definitions and suggests improvements for function and cost.

  • Create NPI/production test equipment, tool orders, obtains Lead engineer's concurrence, and manages the procurement process and schedules.

  • Assess utilization of capital equipment in assigned area(s), provides recommendations for improved utilization, and conducts annual inventory and reporting as required

  • Creates documentation for engineering concurrence supporting cost management, generation of Cost Price Estimates (CPEs), risk assessments, and management/tracking against cost and schedule requirements.

  • Assess and update departmental JHAs.

  • Review and revise related test work flow process, standard work instructions and create videos for sharing knowledge and best practices.

  • Add, revise and work with the Addendum Index as necessary or directed.

  • Create and conduct training and documenting training for technician or new hires workforce.

  • Mentors Specialist I and II Engineers and share knowledge with New hire Engineers.

  • Work with Configuration Management to ensure drawing and specification change information is documented appropriately and obtain approvals.

  • Lead role in coordinating, establishing and performing Test readiness reviews.

  • Create, maintain and generate project files in the format and manner as required including RAIL, MS project for schedule, cost and resource estimation, Daily action plans, quad charts. Generate and maintain project plans and performs monitoring and control of baseline changes.

  • Helps create, maintain and assess quality documentation required for product test acceptance.

  • Assist Engineers with other work as required.

  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment.

  • Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

You Must Have

  • 15 or more years experience in a similar position working in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

  • Associates degree with 15 years of direct work experience.

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

  • Must have Electrical /Electronic circuits, schematics to develop Test Equipment

  • Must have Auto CAD expertise (5+ years), be able to develop designs from concept/high level requirements and provide guidance to other team members.

  • Expertise with AutoCAD products for engineering and design of wiring schematics, electrical enclosure & control panel layouts and PLC I/O

  • Expertise with specification of electrical components and experience designing test solutions with single phase and 3-phase motor controls, PLCs, transducers.

  • Knowledge/experience in multiple key areas listed is desired: Variable frequency drives, AC generator, arc fault detector, AC-DC converter, DC-AC converter, DC-DC converter, DC generator, electric drive, electric motor, electric power, aircraft electrical power system architecture, electrical distribution system, inverter, starter generator, power management, power electronic convertors, actuator controllers
